For 27 years, my life was defined by a reality many people only see in movies but for me, it was the air I breathed. I lived in the shadow of mental illness, trauma, and abuse. I’m starting this blog because it’s time to tell the truth. Not for pity, and not to dwell on…

For over 27 years, my life was defined by the ripples of someone else’s storm. Living with the weight of a partner’s mental illness meant existing in a constant wake of toxicity. A heavy stone dropped into our family’s center that changed the surface for all of us. As a nurse, I was trained to save others, but in my own home, I spent nearly three decades in survival mode, just trying to keep my head above the waves. But storms have a way of clearing the board. Today, the water is finally still. Almost four years post-divorce, I am no longer just reacting to the ripples, but instead I am creating my own. Looking back, I see that I spent years as a pawn in a game I never asked to play, navigating a cracked and crumbling landscape. But I kept moving forward. At 46,I have reached the other side. I am stepping into my most authentic life yet, balancing the heart of a nurse with the grit of an athlete. My fitness journey is the promotion I earned through years of endurance. It is where I reclaim my power, silence the echoes of the past, and transform survival into strength. I am a mother, a healer, and a survivor. The storm didn’t drown me; it washed away everything that wasn’t me. Welcome to my evolution. I’m finding my peace in the quiet moments of progress, one rep and one move at a time.
